For Today: January 20th

When a man’s willing and eager, God joins in.
Aeschylus

When a job or situation or personal problem seemed too hard, I used to say, “I can’t do it.”  In OA I have tapped a source of power greater than myself.  All I need to start the action is willingness.  Sometimes willingness comes easily, sometimes it is locked head-on with defiance.  Then I feel heavy with the load.
What is the willingness formula? Prayer.  When the miracle happens, I watch a defect evaporate, a task easily done, a problem solved.  God does for me what I cannot do for myself.

For Today:  I pray for willingness to get on with the twelve steps of recovery.  That is the only way I know to replace my fears and insecurities with confidence and courage.  When I am willing, there is no void and all things are possible.

In many areas of life, I've replaced "I can't" with "I CAN".  God helps me do what I cannot do for myself.
I pray for the willingness to meet each chore ahead of me with acceptance instead of defiance.  Cleaning the house is a good example. I used to dread that task and feel terribly aggravated at having to clean on a weekend day.  Now, I just ask God to help me STOP dreading it, and just DO it without making a fuss.  I find myself going through the motions without defiance and getting the job done faster & easier.

Whatever lies ahead, good or bad, God WILL help me through it when I ask. Once I get through a tough situation, I EMPOWER myself with confidence and feel proud instead of defeated.  Then, I DO replace fear and insecurity with confidence and courage!

My life is not a series of tasks and chores, but an adventure to live to the fullest, with God's help and guidance, one day at a time.
