For Today: January 11th

How much time he gains who does not look to see what his neighbor says, or does or thinks, but only at what he does himself, to make it just and holy.
Marcus Aurelius

What a sad waste of time it is to occupy myself with other people’s affairs---gossiping, pointing a finger, taking another’s inventory, comparing status and possessions.  The motive, beyond a surface self-satisfaction, is obviously to keep from putting my own house in order.  That is a full time job: taking my own inventory, making my own amends, becoming more aware of my own defects.

There is surely no more exciting adventure, no greater privilege than to continue working this program of recovery.

For Today:  There is never enough time to work my own program and someone else’s.

It's true.........when I'm busy minding YOUR business, I don't have to worry about keeping MY business in order! It's SO much easier to take YOUR inventory than it is MINE!

When I gossip and finger point is when my disease threatens me.........it's when I lose MY peace of mind because I'm not working on ME.........

I work on these character defects all the time...........I listen to gossip every day at work, no matter what. I can change the subject, walk away, whatever............but the gossip-mongers FIND me and tell me all the 'news.'  What I do is ............. I make NO comment! It's hard to do........to not pass judgment on another.......but I KNOW that all such negativity will ultimately affect ME!

For today, I will sidestep the gossip and stick to minding my OWN business.
